I was looking at some information (Link later) and found this shocking statistic 49% of pregnancies are unintended in the United States. That is just unbelieveable to me. And G.W. Bush is advocating abstinance over contraceptives!?!?! Get these kids some real education!

For those of you thinking Britian must have similar rates, this is our figure; 20.5% of pregnancies are unintended in Great Britain.

I just can not get my head around it.

For those asking what criteria were used this is them; Definition: The percentage of pregnancies that are unintended. The number of unintended pregnancies has been estimated by adding the number of unintended births with the number of abortions. Women?s pregnancy intentions were determined by their answer to the Demographic and Health Survey (DHS) question "was your last birth wanted?" If they answered "no," their pregnancy was considered unintended, although this does not take into consideration mistimed births. The percentage of unintended pregnancies has been estimated for those countries for which DHS data is unavailable.
